TELEPHONE ACCESS

Call (206)783-9300 24 hours / day

Regular Hours:
Monday through Friday: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (closed from 12 to 1 PM for lunch)
Saturday: 8:30 AM to 12 noon *PLEASE NOTE: Saturday nurse calls and appointments are for semi-urgent problems.

We welcome your questions and are here to help you in your important task of raising a happy healthy child.

During regular clinic hours there is a nurse available by phone to help you with your questions and concerns. Our nurses have your child's medical record available for documentation as well as accurate information on his/her medical history. They are best able to make recommendations in keeping with the medical advice of your child's physician. You may find the answers to some of your questions in the Health Information section of this website.

Our nurses are very knowledgeable about many aspects of caring for children, including nutrition, minor illness care and common growth and development issues. They can also help you if you are unsure whether your child needs an appointment. We receive many calls each day, some in clusters. Phones are especially busy Monday and Friday mornings. If a nurse is not available to take your call directly, your call will be placed into the voice-mail system where you can leave a brief message regarding your concerns. Please spell your child's first and last name, their age, usual physician and your name and number, preferably one which accepts "blocked" calls. A nurse will return your call within 1 or 2 hours--usually much sooner. PLEASE LET THE RECEPTIONIST KNOW RIGHT AWAY IF YOUR CALL IS AN EMERGENCY.

AFTER HOURS AND WEEKENDS

Ballard Pediatric Clinic offers an after hours nurse consultation service. Our clinic is charged a fee for each call placed to this nurse triage service. Therefore, we must charge our families $10.00 per call to offset this expense. This service allows you to talk with a Children's Hospital consulting nurse about your child's urgent medical needs - illnesses that require medical attention before the regular office hours. Please see the literature available at the office for scheduling appointments in the Children's After Hours Clinic and after hours answers to routine questions. Please do not use the after hours consultation service for routine questions.
